There is no honest universal best agency
The right partner depends on what is broken, what your team can already do and what result matters to the business.
A home-services company that needs accurate local pages and more qualified calls is not buying the same work as a SaaS company that needs technical documentation, comparison content and sales-pipeline measurement. A medical practice cannot review content the same way an ecommerce brand reviews a product feed. One winner order hides those differences.
There is another problem with “best agency” lists: the publisher may also be one of the sellers. That is true here. Mindflow Marketing provides AI visibility services. We have a material interest in the category. We describe Mindflow as one option in the fit table below, but we do not award Mindflow a place or score.
The named providers are not endorsed or rejected. Their descriptions come from their own public service pages, checked on 21 August 2026. A company can change its team, scope, price or contract after that date. Verify current terms directly.
Use this page as a procurement guide:
- define the problem;
- choose the delivery model;
- verify the people, work and evidence;
- connect the measurement to a qualified action;
- start with a controlled scope.
That process will not produce one universal winner. It should produce a defensible shortlist for your business.
The disclosure standard follows the Federal Trade Commission’s principle that a material connection which could affect the weight of an endorsement should be disclosed clearly. See the FTC Endorsement Guides Q&A.
First decide whether you need an agency
You may need a person, a tool, a delivery team or none of those yet. Buying the wrong model creates work instead of removing it.
| Purchase model | Useful when | You still own | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|---|
| Do it internally | Your team can inspect access, pages, public facts, analytics and conversion paths | Priorities, implementation, checking and reporting | Nobody has time or authority to act on findings |
| Monitoring software | You need a repeatable view of selected questions, citations, competitors or crawler activity | Prompt design, diagnosis, implementation and commercial interpretation | The dashboard is treated as the strategy |
| Independent consultant | Your team can implement but needs experienced diagnosis and priorities | Delivery capacity, specialist review and project management | Advice stops at a generic checklist |
| Specialist agency | You need diagnosis and execution across a defined set of search, content, local, reputation or conversion problems | Approvals, source access and business-side follow-through | The scope does not cover the real bottleneck |
| Full-service agency | Several channels and teams must move together | Executive sponsorship, commercial data and major approvals | You pay for breadth that the problem does not require |
| In-house hire or team | Search and content are continuous strategic capabilities with enough work to justify dedicated capacity | Hiring, management, tools and specialist gaps | One hire is expected to cover every discipline |
Start with what you already know.
- If you cannot say whether the business appears for real buyer questions, start with a baseline.
- If the baseline exists but nobody knows why the result looks that way, you need diagnosis.
- If the diagnosis is clear but work is not shipping, you need implementation capacity.
- If several agencies and internal departments are changing the same pages, you need coordination and governance.
Google’s own hiring guidance says a small local business may be able to do much of the basic work itself. It also says a professional can help, but an irresponsible provider can damage the site and its reputation. “Hire an agency” is not the correct answer by default.
A tool may be enough for a capable B2B marketing team that wants to monitor a fixed question set. A founder-accountable specialist may suit an established operator that needs judgment and implementation without a large account structure. An enterprise site with legal, product, PR, engineering and regional teams may need a larger multidisciplinary partner.
The first buying decision is not which logo you like. It is which responsibility you need someone else to carry.
Google’s guide to hiring an SEO explains the possible value and risk of outside help, recommends interviewing providers and notes that some smaller businesses can perform basic work internally.
Match the delivery model to the actual gap
Use the smallest-sufficient-partner test before you request proposals. It has six questions.
| Decision | What to establish | Likely minimum help |
|---|---|---|
| Observe | Can you record how the business appears for a fixed set of buyer questions? | Internal check or monitoring software |
| Diagnose | Can someone explain whether the gap is access, unclear facts, weak pages, missing corroboration or a poor next step? | Experienced consultant or specialist |
| Execute | Which technical, editorial, local, PR, product-data or conversion work must ship? | Internal specialists or delivery agency |
| Coordinate | How many people, systems and approvals must move together? | Named project owner; larger team only when justified |
| Govern | Who approves claims, regulated content, access and public changes? | Business owner plus scoped expert review |
| Measure | Which call, enquiry, appointment, demo, trial or order will be checked? | Analytics and operating records with agreed definitions |
Do not skip from “our business did not appear in one answer” to “we need a full GEO retainer.” The missing result may come from a blocked page, an unclear service description, inconsistent public facts or a question that does not match what the business actually sells.
The same restraint works in the other direction. A software subscription will not rewrite a confusing service page, reconcile product information, obtain medical review or fix a form that loses qualified enquiries. Monitoring can reveal a pattern. Someone still has to decide what the pattern means and change the right source.
Mindflow treats AI visibility as part of the route from discovery to trust to action. The work can include search access, page meaning, public facts, supporting evidence and the conversion path. That does not mean every client needs every capability every month.
Mindflow Marketing is founder-accountable, not founder-only. Youssef reviews the evidence, sets the priorities and remains responsible for the recommendation. Specialists may handle development, certain writing or technical implementation. If you need a large team to launch many workstreams at once, a larger agency may be the better model.
That is the trade: buy the capacity and accountability the problem requires, not the most impressive service list.
Verify six things before you shortlist anyone
An agency page tells you what the seller wants you to notice. Your checks should reveal what the engagement will actually do.
| Check | Ask for | Walk away when |
|---|---|---|
| Conflict | Disclosure of paid placements, referral arrangements and self-ranking methods | A commercial list presents opinions as independent rankings |
| Problem | A diagnosis tied to your site, market, buyer questions and current evidence | The proposal starts with a fixed package before examining the business |
| Owner | The person who sets priorities, approves consequential work and explains changes | You cannot identify who is responsible after the sale |
| Work | Exact deliverables, dependencies, exclusions and implementation responsibility | “Optimization” replaces a concrete work description |
| Evidence | Baseline, dated records, source links, first-party reporting and qualified-action rules | A proprietary score cannot be inspected or connected to the business |
| Contract | Price, term, access, asset ownership, exit process and change approval | Credentials or admin access are requested without a reason or limit |
Google recommends asking a prospective SEO what results to expect, how long they may take, how success will be measured and how changes will be communicated. Google also advises checking references and says an initial audit should normally use read access to Search Console rather than write access.
Two claims should end the conversation quickly:
- “We guarantee you will rank first.”
- “We guarantee ChatGPT, Gemini or another provider will recommend you.”
Google explicitly warns against first-place guarantees. OpenAI says placement in ChatGPT search is not guaranteed. An agency can improve conditions it controls. It cannot choose the provider’s final output.
Ask the seller to separate official documentation from practitioner observation and inference. Google now advises buyers to check third-party AEO or GEO recommendations against official guidance. Google also says it does not approve third-party SEO tools, and those tools do not have access to Google’s internal ranking data.
That does not make third-party tools useless. It means the provider should be able to explain what the tool observed, what it estimated and what decision follows.
The hiring, access and guarantee safeguards come from Google’s SEO hiring guide. Google’s third-party SEO guidance covers AEO/GEO claims, tool limits and verification against official documentation. OpenAI states in Searching the web with ChatGPT that placement is not guaranteed.
Current providers sell different kinds of help
The following map describes published service models. It is not a rank order, review score or prediction of results.
| Provider or group | Published model | Consider when | Verify directly |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPullRank | Enterprise and mid-market AI-search work across technical search, content, digital PR, user experience and measurement | You have a large site, internal specialists and complex implementation | Named team, technical depth, internal dependencies, scope and budget |
| Omniscient Digital | B2B organic-growth and GEO service with strategy, technical review, content, brand mentions and monitoring | B2B SaaS content and pipeline are central; the checked page published a $10,000 monthly starting price | Current price, production volume, sales attribution and fit outside B2B |
| Siege Media | Content, data journalism and digital PR with AI citation and organic measurement | An established SaaS, ecommerce or content-led brand needs research and earned distribution | Editorial/PR scope, contract horizon, implementation and revenue definition |
| Hook Agency | Home-services SEO focused on technical work, content, links, calls and leads | A contractor wants a vertical team centered on local Google demand | AI-search scope, market exclusivity, service-area method and lead definition |
| Amsive, NoGood, Intero Digital and Straight North | Broader agency models that place AI visibility beside combinations of SEO, content, PR, paid media, creative, analytics or web work | Several channels need one commercial and delivery structure | Senior owner, handoffs, channel minimums, attribution and work you do not need |
| Scrunch, Search Atlas, Profound, Semrush, Writesonic and Goodie | Software for combinations of prompt monitoring, citations, competitors, crawler activity, workflow or automation | Your internal team can interpret findings and implement changes | Prompt method, model/location controls, exports, retention, limits and support |
| Mindflow Marketing | Founder-accountable diagnosis and execution across search, local visibility, AI answers, reputation and conversion for five industries | An established business wants one accountable priority owner and a controlled specialist network | Current pricing, capacity, category/metro availability, specialist boundary and exact scope |
Provider self-description is not independent proof. A published service page can establish what a provider says it offers. It cannot establish that the offer will work for your site.
The software row deserves special attention. Scrunch, Search Atlas, Profound, Semrush, Writesonic and Goodie may help teams observe or organize work. They are not automatically substitutes for an agency, and an agency subscription to one of them is not a proprietary relationship with an AI provider.
The vertical row also shows why “best” is not a stable category. Hook’s narrow home-services focus may be a strength for a contractor and a reason not to shortlist it for a hospital, SaaS product or online store. Omniscient’s B2B content model may suit a software company better than a local emergency service. Fit is the point.
Ask for evidence that can survive a second look
An AI-answer screenshot is useful when it preserves enough context. It is weak when it is cropped, undated or presented as a sale.
Keep this evidence ladder separate:
answer shown → business mentioned → page cited → relevant visit → qualified action → commercial result
Each step proves something different.
| Record | Minimum evidence | It does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Answer | Exact question, product, mode, account context, place and date | That another user saw the same response |
| Mention | Full answer showing the business name and context | A citation, endorsement or accurate description |
| Citation | Visible source link and supporting page | That the page supported every sentence |
| Referral | Analytics record with source and landing page | Lead quality or revenue |
| Qualified action | Agreed CRM, call, booking, trial or order rule | That one answer caused the result |
| Commercial result | Job, matter, appointment value, opportunity or order in the operating system | That the agency deserves all credit |
OpenAI warns that searched results and citations can be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. A responsible report therefore opens the source and checks whether it supports the answer. A citation count alone is not enough.
Ask how the agency freezes and repeats buyer questions. The record should retain the product, mode, date and location. If the provider changes the prompts every month, a change in the score may come from the test rather than the business.
Ask which first-party data will sit beside those observations. Search Console can show Google search performance. Bing Webmaster Tools now exposes supported AI citation reporting. Tagged ChatGPT referrals can identify some visits. Analytics and your operating system must still determine whether the visitor became a qualified prospect or customer.
For the full measurement boundary, read How to Measure AI Search Visibility Honestly. For the differences between source displays, use the AI citation surfaces guide.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT search help tells users to open and verify cited sources. The publisher FAQ documents tagged search referrals. Microsoft defines first-party citation metrics and their limits in Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance.
Make the proposal name the people, work and access
“Senior strategy” is not a staffing plan. “AI optimization” is not a deliverable.
The proposal should answer these questions in plain English:
- Who reviews the evidence and chooses the first priority?
- Who writes, develops, publishes and checks specialist work?
- Who can change the recommendation when the evidence changes?
- Which meetings include the decision owner?
- What must your team supply or approve?
- Which systems need read, write or administrative access?
- What pages, research, data and accounts do you own at the end?
- What is excluded, and how is extra work approved?
Founder-accountable does not have to mean one person performs every task. A founder can own the diagnosis, priorities and final recommendation while specialists perform scoped work. The proposal should say so.
Large teams are not a defect either. A complicated ecommerce migration or enterprise rollout may need many specialists. The risk is not team location, seniority or size by itself. The risk is an undisclosed handoff where nobody you can reach owns the consequential decision.
Limit access to the work. Google recommends read access to Search Console for an initial audit. A provider should explain why it needs publishing, DNS, analytics, Business Profile, Merchant Center or CRM access before you grant it. The exit plan should remove access and return the work product.
The contract should also state what happens if the evidence shows the original package is wrong. A useful partner can reduce or redirect work. A weak contract keeps producing the deliverables it sold even after the diagnosis changes.
The right outcome changes across five industries
The search products may be shared. The buyer action, evidence and risk are not.
| Industry | Qualified outcome | Work that may matter | Ask the prospective partner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home Services | Qualified calls, estimates and booked jobs | Service-area facts, Business Profile, service pages, reviews, call path and local corroboration | “How will you separate map visibility, website visits, qualified calls and booked work?” |
| Legal | Appropriate enquiries, consultations and accepted matters | Attorney/practice facts, jurisdiction, careful claims, service pages and intake | “Who reviews jurisdictional and advertising claims before publication?” |
| Healthcare | Appropriate appointments and patient-acquisition records | Provider/location facts, clinically reviewed pages, safety boundaries and booking path | “What is the clinical review and correction process?” |
| B2B SaaS | Qualified demos, trials, opportunities and revenue | Product documentation, use cases, integrations, comparisons and CRM handoff | “How will you connect selected questions and cited pages to pipeline stages?” |
| eCommerce | Product discovery, completed orders, margin and repeat purchase | Product feeds, specifications, availability, category pages, policies and checkout | “How will you reconcile merchant data with landing pages and measure profitable orders?” |
Equal attention does not mean copying one playbook five times.
A contractor may depend heavily on proximity, service area and phone handling. Those factors have little relevance to online-only SaaS. A law firm and medical practice need strong review of regulated or consequential claims. An ecommerce program may depend on feed and inventory accuracy that a professional-services site does not have.
Ask for an example of the decision process, not a confidential client name. The agency should be able to explain which sources it would inspect, who must approve changes, what it would measure and what it would refuse to promise.
Mindflow serves all five industries with one evidence standard and different industry inputs. The AI Search Guide explains the common foundations. The industry pages explain the different buyer paths.
Run a controlled first engagement before a long commitment
A first engagement should reduce uncertainty. It should not trap you in a larger program before the problem is understood.
Use this six-line contract:
| Line | What it must state |
|---|---|
| Baseline | The questions, products, pages, markets and business actions being checked |
| Access | The minimum systems and permission level required |
| Deliverable | The evidence, diagnosis, priority order and implementation scope you receive |
| Owner | The person responsible for the recommendation and your business-side approver |
| Decision | What will be decided at the end: internal fix, software, pilot, retainer or no work |
| Exit | What you own, what access is removed and what remains uncertain |
A diagnostic can be free or paid. The important point is whether it produces a usable record. An automated score that leads directly to a sales call may be convenient, but it is not the same as an evidence-backed diagnosis.
If you proceed to a pilot, freeze the baseline before implementation. Choose a bounded set of pages or buyer questions. State the leading visibility signals and the lagging business action. Set a review date that matches the work rather than promising a universal timeline.
Do not grant broad write access merely to receive a proposal. Do not let a provider change public facts, regulated content or technical controls without approval. Do not sign a long contract because one assistant omitted the brand once.
The agency interview questions give you a longer call script. Mindflow’s pricing page states our current diagnostic, ongoing scope and operating terms so you can compare them before talking to us.
Diagnose the problem before comparing agencies
Start with the evidence you have, even if that evidence is incomplete.
Share:
- the website and primary market;
- the industry;
- five to twelve questions real buyers ask;
- the call, consultation, appointment, demo, trial or order that matters;
- the pages or profiles that should support those questions;
- any Search Console, analytics, CRM or call records you can safely provide;
- the suspected access, content, public-fact or conversion problem.
Mindflow Marketing will record the current state, identify the first controllable gap and explain what kind of help that gap requires. The answer may be internal work, a monitoring tool, a scoped specialist or a broader engagement. If Mindflow is not the right delivery model, the recommendation should say so.
Google and the AI products still decide what they rank, cite and show. Mindflow Marketing remains responsible for the evidence, the priority and the recommendation—not for guaranteeing a placement, lead or sale.
